Gluten Free Appetizer for Christmas

I have several friends that are gluten-free, so that got me thinking about how can I make one of my favorite appetizers gluten-free.

This super simple appetizer is not just for a Christmas party, but that is what I grew up with so it makes it perfect for Christmas because of the memories. Plus it includes meatballs which is the perfect finger food.

I will share with you two different ways to make it. In one recipe, everything is store-bought and there is a recipe making the chili sauce from scratch. You pick, what is best for you!

Whatever you pick it is guaranteed to impress everyone. It will please even the pickiest eater.

Crockpot Grape Jelly Meatballs (Store-Bought Version)

Ingredients:

1 pound Frozen Meatballs (please check ingredients that they are gluten-free)

One jar of Chili Sauce

One jar of Grape Jelly

**Don’t forget your crockpot liner. Check out this BPA-free one here.

Instructions:

Dump all ingredients in your crockpot and cook on low for 6 hours. Stir and serve. That’s it!

Crockpot Grape Jelly Meatballs (Homemade Chili Sauce Version)

Ingredients:

1 pound Frozen Meatballs (please check ingredients that they are gluten-free)

One jar of Grape Jelly

Your Homemade Chili Sauce (See Below for Instructions)

Dump all ingredients in your crockpot and cook on low for 6 hours. Stir and serve. That’s it!

Homemade Chili Sauce:

1 cup tomato puree

1/3 cup light corn syrup

1/4 cup white vinegar

2 teaspoons dried onion flakes

2 teaspoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions:

Whisk together all the ingredients in a small pot over medium heat.

Once it bubbles, lower to low heat and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes. Let the mixture rest for at least 20 mins or over night (in the frig) before you add it to your crock pot.
