A friend had a Christmas Party and the rule was no gifts, only good food. Everyone brought an appetizer and a copy of the recipe. Brillant–I am so doing this next year.

But, I was so excited to see bacon wrapped dates with goat cheese. I had it on my list to make this recipe. I was so glad I got an early Christmas gift!

Dates Wrapped in Bacon With Goat Cheese Recipe

Ingredients:

12 pitted dates (make sure to remove the pit)

3 oz creamy goat cheese

6 slices of bacon

toothpicks

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees
  2. line baking sheet with parchment paper- easy cleanup!
  3. Cut slits lengthwise in the dates and fill with 1-2 teaspoons of goat cheese. *Depends on the size of date
  4. Wrap each date with the bacon 1 1/2 times and stick a toothpick through the middle to hold them together.
  5. Place on baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes
  6. After 10 mins, flip the dates onto the other sides. *This ensures the bacon is crispy. Bake another 10 mins.
  7. If the bacon is still not thoroughly cooked, let them cook for another 5-10 mins. *This depends on the thickness of the bacon so the cook time can vary. Keep an eye on the dates if you bake them longer.
